Week of March 30

Monday, March 30

This Monday I worked from home because I had an interview! I joined a call with Amy and Melissa for a meeting like we do most Mondays and went over some social media. Melisssa and I had the idea to do summer ABCs for filler content so she finalized what each alphabetical letter she preferred from our ideas. Then, the rest of the day when I could because of my interview I created nearly 75% of the captions for these posts.

Wednesday, April 1

Happy Wednesday and APRIL FOOLS. This morning I came in and started working with Melissa on an over the door self examination hander. There is one side for breast exams and one  for testicular exams. These are meant to be created and hung in the shower or somewhere noticeable so that you do not forget to do it monthly. We met with Amy in her office once we arrived. I faxed a couple more receipts to her. Then we all started discussing our expectations of volunteer week! We worked on a banner to hang in the lobby, approved a sweatshirt gift design, and confirmed activities and decorations that we wanted. We were playing a prank on Amy where we all switched dresses, so we left her office and packed up Molly’s car to get to breast because there was still Strollin’ and merch stuff to put away. While we were there we did our dress swap and then headed back to 800. We came back to Amy’s office and kept working. She did not notice for 10 minutes and when we finally stood up to leave is when she did. Then we came back down to Molly’s office and I started working on additional slides for the ABCs of cancer. S is for stages so I made an additional slide explaining all the stages, the same of how to do melanoma checks, and the different biopsies. G is for genetic counseling and Kris in our building has experience in the field so I went down to interview her and grab a picture for her as well. Then we went to grab lunch and chatted for a bit! We had group interviews at 1pm for new volunteers and so we set up in the second floor conference room and set up. Then we went downstairs to grab them which was so silly. We did a quick tour before heading back to the conference room. Molly went through the presentation we gave and then we hopped into questions. It was fun being on the other side of an interview. They did great and we had some solid people come from that. After they left we discussed how it went and then wrapped up and went home!

Thursday, April 2

Goodmorning! Today I started off by working on the blog a bit. Molly asked me to redo the volunteer board for the month of April. Melissa came in and she helped too. She came up with a great idea “We are so Hoppy you are a Volunteer!” After this Amy and Molly surprised us with Easter baskets!! This was so kind of them. We chatted for a bit before Amy handed us off to work on Breast Friend logistics. She was asked to have 2025 vs 2026 comparisons of the event. Melissa has been working on the social media aspects of the event and the insights that gave meta business suite gave us. I started working on the attendance, who actually showed up, the comped tickets, etc. As well as the old, new, and returning sponsors, and lastly, the volunteer positions. Soon after we had another interview! These took place and then we finished and debriefed everyone and also went over a lot of the logistics!

Weekly reflection matched with competencies

2.3.4 Adpot, adapt, and/or develop tailored intervention(s) for priority population(s) to achieve desired outcomes

This week we finally created and nearly finalized the new ABC’s of cancer summer filler educational social media content. We expanded the posts to cover topcics like the stages of cancer, skin checks, bipsoy types, genetic cousneling and more.

2.4.2 Develope materials needed for implementation

We created over the shower examination door hangers for both breast and testicular cancer awareness. These willl promote monthyl self heck habits. We also created the volunteer board for April and made banners for volunteer appreciation week.

4.1.2 Select evaluation methods

4.1.3 Analyze data obtained from evaluation methods

This week we did a huge evaluation for the Breast Freinds Brunch event that was back in February. We categorzied attendance, sponsorship, volunteer roles, and social media metrics and compared both 2025’s event to 2026’s. This helps us understand the performance difference between the two years.

6.3.3 Tailor message(s) for the audience (s)

The ABC’s of cancer social media campign is not only for those with cancer but all of our patienrs, their caregivers, our doctors, and the whole community. We interviewed Kris, our genetic cousnelor so enhance the experience and Terri as well.

6.4.3 Develope communication aids, materials, or tools using appropariate multimedia

7.2.3 Demonstrate leadership through independent initiative and problem solving

This was the first week ever I worked from home/remote. I stil competed a lot fo work showing a great deal of independence and accountbaility, as well as being present on zoom for our meeting.

7.3.6 Provide professional development and training for staff and volunteers

This week we started group itnerviews! It was so fun. I helped facilitate a tour, ask and answer questions, contribute to onboarding and evaluated all being interviewed. I also created more materials to support volunteer expectations.

Reflection:

This was a really good week in general because I I was able ot find a job at home eek! There is a great deal of post-grad stress on me right now. I loved watching the group itnerviws and volunteer onboarding process because I will hoepfulyl be in the same interview shoes later and have never been on that side of the logistics. We created two huge tools for education and prevent, both the over the door hangers and the ABC’s of cancer series. Lastly, doing the logistics for Breast Freinds really tested my pateince and showed me a different kind of reality to non profit work.
