2.1.1: Convene priority populations, partners, and stakeholders.
This week I participated in the GI cancer board meeting, helped with the physician/vendor lunch and learn session, and was in with the meetings for both Strollin’ for the Colon and Breast Friends Brunch. Healthcare providers, staff, volunteers, and pharm reps were all present at these and I convened with them.
2.3.4: Adopt, adapt, and/or develop tailored intervention(s) for priority
population(s) to achieve desired outcomes.
I nearly finished all of of the Strollin’ for the Colon social media materials. This included save-the-date posts, sponsorships and reminders. I tailored them specifically with the promotional content already made.
3.1.2: Arrange for implementation services.
I helped with the set up of both Lunch and Learn and Strollin’ for the Colon.I assisted in food coordination with Chick-Fil-A for Breast Friends, the silent auction checkout, and helped with volunteer navigation during these events.
6.4.3: Develop communication aids, materials, or tools using appropriate
multimedia (e.g., infographics, presentation software, brochures, and
posters)
Continued to develop my Canva graphics, event materials and post to the UCBC Cares instagram
6.5.6: Use digital media to engage audience(s) (e.g., social media
management tools and platforms).
Using Meta Business Suite, scheduled and managed content alongside Melissa to engage more patients and community members
7.1.1: Identify potential partners and stakeholders.
We researched and compiled lists of local businesses to sponsor Strollin’ for the Colon, we were in charge of finding their contact information. This was across multiple industries.
7.3.7 Facilitate the engagement and retention of staff and volunteers.
I helped with volunteer onboarding when assisting Molly make content videos for training. I helped with name tags for Breast friends. I remained basically an active volunteer during all the events we had this week.
Reflection:
This week I am very proud of myself. I weathered a tremendous “storm”, aka being very sick and still showing up. I gave my 100% effort this week and even worked when I was not supposed to. I learned a lot in a bunch of different aspects. I got to listen in on the GI tumor board full of doctors which was so cool. I got to talk to vendors about their drugs and watch them present. I listened to the testimonies of breast cancer survivors. I feel like this week flew by and every bit of it was so meaningful, we hit all the bases, and the Breast Friends Bunch was absolutely beautiful. It was nice to start being present in more events the foundation is hosting cause it makes it all come to life.
