Week 3: January 26 to February 1

Summary of week 2 matched with competencies and reflection

2.1.1: Convene priority populations, partners, and stakeholders

2.1.2: Facilitate collaborative efforts among priority populations, partners, and stakeholders

This week involved a lot of collaboration with my fellow staff to plan the upcoming UCBC Cares Strollin’. By participating in meetings that reviewed and finalized social media, as well as a planning meeting with Charissa for Wonders and Worries.

2.3.4:Adopt, adapt, and/or develop tailored intervention(s) for priority population(s) to achieve desired outcomes

I contributed to developing interventions by creating templates for promotional content for Strollin’ for the Colon, oncology massage therapy, and volunteer spotlights. I provided input in meetings regarding different activities and giveaways that would enhance engagement in both Strollin’ and Wonders and Worries. This supports UCBC Cares goals of increasing awareness and participation across its programs.

3.1.1: Secure implementation resources

3.1.2: Arrange for implementation services

This week I assisted in identifying nearby businesses for potential sponsorships, organizing mail for Strollin’ sponsors, and preparing materials for the different events across UCBCs different locations. I helped logistically by counting supply bags for our Look Good Feel Better event. These tasks aid to make sure we are resourced and prepared for successful implementation.

6.4.3: Develop communication aids, materials, or tools using appropriate multimedia

6.5.6: Use digital media to engage audience(s)

The biggest contribution to my internship  is developing communication between social media and UCBC Cares. I spent the week drafting website content, event expectations, and goals. I continued to use patient testimonies and expectations to create engaging instagram and facebook content to promote the program. Melissa and I successfully planned out a large portion of the social media calendar, which was the most beneficial component this week.

7.1.1:Identify potential partners and stakeholders

7.1.4: Execute formal and informal agreements with partners and stakeholders

This week during both my meetings I observed efforts in community partnerships. Healthcare providers, social workers, and nonprofit staff all need to work together and be managed to support the same shared goals.

Reflection:

During this week I felt a strong sense of belonging! We have been at the internship for 3 weeks now and it can take some getting used to joining a new team and seeing the collaboration come together. Being trusted to join meetings and tasked to complete notes, manage logistics and work more independently reinforces that I am exactly where I need to be. On the same note, the content calendar was a huge win for the week for Melissa and I. Seeing it and organizing all in one really made us realize we can do this. We just needed a little push. I have noticed a lot of preparation this first three weeks and this one specifically as there is so much event planning and events coming up in a short amount of time, even though there were none happening right after the New Year.
